The participants of the study were 55 students, they were divided into two groups, (30) assigned as the experimental group and (25) assigned as the control group. The study was carried out using two instruments; a writing skills test and a rubric for students’ scores. The learner-centered learning Strategies (L-C L) used to develop the essay writing skills were; tiered activities, mind mapping and feedback. The present study came up with a number of key findings. Using the chosen L- e L strategies, caused significant progress in developing the essay writing skills of the experimental group students as a whole and in each skill. Additionally, the chosen L-C L strategies had a large effect size on developing the experimental group students’ essay writing skills as a whole (0.98) and on each skill separately. Also, the effectiveness of the used L-C L strategies on developing the essay writing skills was computed through using Blake’s formula and the gain ratio, which was 1.22 which is nearly the same as the accepted gain ratio of effectiveness (1.2).
