Material and methods: The study included a total of 26 implants in 12 patients, inserted and positioned at the crestal bone level, and randomly assigned into two groups either platform-matched (control) or a platform-switched (mismatch 0.35-0.6 mm) implant abutment connection (test). Outcome measures were patient’s satisfaction, implant mobility, and radiographic crestal bone-level changes. These parameters were assessed preoperatively, 3 months after implant placement and 9 months after placing the implant crown. Results: For all the measured outcomes, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. However after 9 months, platform-switched group showed statistically significantly lower mean percentage of crestal bone loss than platform-matched group. Conclusions: within the limitation of the current study, the results suggested that there was no difference between both groups and platform diameter does not have a true impact upon hard tissue response around dental implants
