The present study aimed at investigating using SQ5R Strategy in developing the EFL study skills and self-efficacy of seventy First year Business Administration Students at the Higher Technological Institute at the Tenth of Ramadan. The sample was divided into a control group (N=35) and an experimental group (N=35). To achieve the aims of the study an EFL study skills questionnaire, study skills pre-posttest, EFL self-efficacy and rubrics to analyze students’ performance were prepared and administered to both the experimental and control groups after using a proposed SQ5R- based contentto the experimental group in the Summer Training of the academic year (2014-2015) for a month and a half to enhance the participants’ Study Skills and their Self-efficacy. On the other hand, students in the control group received regular instruction. By the end of the experiment, the study skills test and the self-efficacy scale were administered to both the experimental and control groups to find out using SQ5R Strategy in developing the experimental group students’ study skills and self-efficacy .The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference at 0.05 level between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in favor of the experimental group on the post administration of the study skills test and self-efficacy scale. Therefore it could be concluded that the SQ5R Strategy is effective in developing the EFL freshmen students’ study skills and self-efficacy.
